Assorted personal protective equipmentPPE refers to items of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hat, safety shoes, ear defenders, protective overalls, etc. The health and safety regulations put laws in place designed to protect workers, but they also place an onus on each individual to take measures to protect their own health and safety and that of others.

You must provide your own ovealls and steel toe-capped safety boots.

Apart from this, you will get one free issue of all other itmes of personal protective equipment. You must have this equipment with you at all times during Phase 2. If you mislay any of these items, you must replace them at your own expense. You will not be allowed to stay in the training centre unless you have all your safety equipment:

  • Overalls and safety boots
  • Safety glasses
  • Ear defenders and ear plugs
Note: for noise levels up to 90Db, there will be a plentiful supply of free, disposable ear plugs available in the workshops. For higher noise levels, you must use your own ear defenders. You will receive one free issue of ear defenders at the start of the course.
  • Acid-proof apron and acid-proof gloves
  • Rigger gloves
In addition to rigger gloves, there will also be a plentiful supply of disposable gloves available in the workshops. In addition, it is recommended that you make use of barrier cream each time you begin work. This includes returning to work after tea and lunch breaks. There will always be a plentiful supply of barrier cream available in the workshops.
